How to Choose a Heated Jacket Battery

When sourcing heated jackets for your brand or retail store, the battery system is one of the most important specs to evaluate. Buyers often compare 5V USB, 7.4V and 12V systems, but the right choice depends on your target market, price positioning and intended use.

5V USB vs 7.4V vs 12V

7.4V is the industry standard for mid-to-high warmth jackets. It delivers strong, even heat and supports 3-9 heating zones without becoming too bulky.

5V USB systems charge from common power banks, which buyers already own, but deliver less peak heat. They work best for urban commuting, golf and light outdoor layers.

12V systems serve extreme-cold workwear and motorcycle gear where maximum heat output matters. These require larger batteries and are usually heavier.

Capacity and Runtime

A 5200mAh 7.4V battery typically runs 3-10 hours depending on the heat level. Higher capacity means more weight, so balance user experience with product positioning. For B2B buyers, we recommend offering two battery tiers: a standard pack for everyday use and a high-capacity pack for extended outdoor use.

Safety Certifications Are Non-Negotiable

Always require UL or CE certification for the battery pack, plus UN38.3 for transport. Ask for test reports before placing bulk orders. Additional market-specific marks such as FCC, UKCA, ETL or CCC may be needed depending on your sales region.

Controller Options

Most heated jackets use a simple button controller with 3 heat levels. Higher-end lines can add a wireless remote or Bluetooth APP for precise temperature control and battery monitoring. APP-connected jackets are becoming popular in the ski, motorcycle and premium urban markets.
